Every figure on this page is worked out from the inputs you enter, by the method stated below it, at the rates and thresholds HMRC publishes on gov.uk and cited beside them. Dividvo publishes no advice on what your company should pay you: the defaults are a worked example to replace with your own numbers, and the tax band is always yours to choose.
The figures above start from a worked example (£58,147.01). Change any input and the answer updates as you type.

A limited company's tax is four numbers pretending to be one: the employer's National Insurance on the salary, the corporation tax on what is left after it, the dividend tax on what the director takes out of the after-tax profit, and the income tax on the salary itself. This calculator works all four from what you type, at the rates HMRC publishes on gov.uk and cited on this page, and prints the total across company and director beside what the director keeps, because that pair is the figure a salary and dividend decision is actually about.
The employer's NI comes off before corporation tax
Salary above the secondary threshold of £5,000 carries employer's National Insurance at fifteen percent, and both the salary and that NI are deductible for corporation tax. The calculator takes them off the profit first, which is why raising the salary lowers the corporation tax line and raises the NI line at the same time. A company that can claim the Employment Allowance, which a sole-director company cannot, sets the NI rate to zero.
Corporation tax is a band and a relief, not one rate
Nineteen percent up to £50,000 of profit, twenty-five percent above £250,000, and between them the main rate less marginal relief of three two-hundredths of the gap between £250,000 and the profit. Choose the band the profit falls in and the calculator applies the relief; if an associated company or a short period cuts the limits, the UK corporation tax calculator on this site works those reduced limits and this sheet should be read with them.
The dividend is taxed above the allowance at the band it lands in
The dividend allowance is £500 and the rates above it are 10.75, 35.75 and 39.35 percent for basic, higher and additional rate taxpayers from 6 April 2026. Which band applies depends on the dividend added to the salary and any other income, so the band is an input rather than a guess. A dividend that straddles two bands is taxed at both, and the calculator applies one rate to the whole, so enter the band the larger part falls in and read the answer as an estimate.
Ltd company tax calculator: common questions
Why is the tax on salary shown as a negative number when the salary is low?
Because the line works income tax at the basic rate on salary above the £12,570 personal allowance, and a salary below that has allowance to spare. The negative figure is the unused allowance times twenty percent, not tax owed. Enter a salary of £12,570 to see it at zero.
Does this include employee's National Insurance?
Not as a line. Employee's NI starts at the primary threshold of £12,570, the same figure as the personal allowance, so at the default salary it is nil. Above that it is eight percent, and a director paying themselves more than the allowance should add that to the total by hand or use the director salary guide on this site.
Does this save the computation anywhere?
Not on its own. The calculator computes in your browser and sends nothing anywhere. Dividvo Pro saves each computation against the company and the year, with your company name and number on it, so the figure you give the accountant is the figure on the sheet.
